The WSK Euro Series’ opening event, held at La Conca, showed how the positive premises of the season were correct. A the International La Conca Circuit (Italy) our drivers did a very good job, actually Armand Convers and Nicklas Nielsen on the occasion of the first round soon fought to succeed in KF category.
During the first steps of the event even the Italian driver Andrea Russo showed off, signing an important sixth timing in his session, putting him directly in the élite of the Super Pole drivers. In the heat assigning the pole position also Nicklas Nielsen ran, gaining the third absolute timing with 45.836.
In the heats Nielsen won one race with a twice best lap and conquered the second row at the starting grid. A good performance was also Armand Convers’, with a very good recovery of his bad qualifying position, fortieth. Convers confirmed his very good driving skills and his chassis’ high potential and won, amongst others, also one heat with one best lap, finally gaining the third row of the pre-final.
Russo proved again to be a fast driver and could obtain a seat in the final without any concern. Less lucky was the French driver Paul Boutonnet, with a good eleventh timing in the qualifying heats but unlucky in the heats. Nevertheless Boutonnet’s debut with our Racing Department is positive. Convers gained the fourth position in the pre-final, conquering nine scores for the ranking. Nielsen, too, enter the top-drivers with his sixth position. During the final, Convers fell to the twenty-sixth position in the very first laps due to some collisions, which prevented him the chance to do a good performance.
Nielsen fought during the whole race to gain the podium, against Boccolacci and Basz in the leading positions. Under the chequered flag Nielsen arrived fourth, gaining still fifteen scores (in addition to the seven scores of the pre-final), very precious to give the right push to the Championship’s ranking. Nielsen is currently fourth with twenty-three scores. The next round of the WSK Euro Series is scheduled from the18th to 21st of April at the Italian Circuit of Sarno (Naples).
