An accident prevents Groman from run after the eighth round of the European event for our Czech driver
KF3 drivers must withdraw due to several accidents. Corberi is out in the prefinal and Piccini can't go ahead after the first bend of the final.
KF2 - Antonio Fuoco's debut with our colours was a real success! The young Italian driver has already shown off and now he has the opportunity to let us see all his potential.
“Speedy”, Fuoco's nickname, soon found out the right feeling with the technical material, which is alike the material he ran with during the beginning of the season and felt at ease with the whole Racing Department.
Since the qualifying heats Mercury chassis powered by RAD engines gave confirmation of their high competitiveness, actually the Superpole was won by Nicklas Nielsen, followed by Fuoco. A supremacy for our colours that has continued in the whole WSK Euro event.
The track was quite rubberized, a feature well known for the demanding La Conca circuit and worsen by the very sweltering weather.
During the heat Fuoco ran fast, winning all five rounds, signing best laps and becoming the most favourite for the final success.
The race for the other drivers of ours, Nielsen and Ippolito, was really positive, with the Asia Pacific Champion obtaining the first position in two heats.
In the prefinal Fuoco did not fail to live up to expectations, and won over the Italian Flavio Camponeschi, at the drive of a chassis manufactured in Prevalle, a Tony Kart chassis powered by Vortex engine.
Nielsen's prefinal was quite unlucky, actually the Danish driver stopped at the tenth round, losing good scores for the championship and the real opportunity to aim at the podium of the final.
The final of Antonio Fuoco has been identical to the heats and the prefinal, he started in the top position running very fast and always far from rivals. Our new driver could this way completing his debut with an impressive success, supplied by the best lap in race with 46.866.
The lonely drive has been highlighted also by Rai Sport Channel's cameras which live broadcast the event.
Fuoco climbs, thanks to this success, to the second position of the absolute ranking, with a score of 87.
KZ1. The race was preceded by a bad news, our driver Zdenek Groman had to step off at last, because of an injury occurred during a training session.
Armand Convers defended our colours pretty well in the category with the gearbox. During the first race Convers, and the team together with him, did not lose heart after the two unlucky heats which put us in the eighth row. Convers, after having avoided several fights of the drivers preceding him, began to run as fast as the leaders. Round after round our driver entered the scoring zone and ended up in sixth position.
His approach to final-2 was even better and Convers could start from the seventh position.
The race highlighted our chassis' very good setup and the very well performance of our driver who fought to reach the first positions ending third.
By this podium and the scores obained in race-1 Convers rose to the third position of the general Championship ranking with 78 points.
KF3. Accidents prevent our two drivers, Alessio Piccini and Luca Corberi, to succeed, both of them authors of good performances shown during the heats. Corberi achieved the twelfth position in the heats and Piccini, not far away, at the fifteenth position.
In the prefinal a slight collision stopped Corberi and for this reason he could not reach the final.
Piccini attended the final but he was involved in an accident which did not allow him to go on.
Olivier Marechal – Kosmic Kart Racing Department's Team Manager
“Fuoco had a wonderful debut and we were very satisfied with it. He did a good work and was always available for the team with humility. The material gave good results, as we could see, in all three categories.
Other drivers too, Nielsen and Ippolito ran fast in KF2 category and Convers got on the podium in KZ1 class.
Luca (Corberi) and Alessio (Piccini) did not obtained the desired result because of some accidents, otherwise they could have gained good scores.”
Antonio Fuoco – Kosmic Kart Racing Department's driver in KF2 category
“The material is perfect, I already ran with it and I know it, but the difference was the setup and all the details which allowed us to run at best in every moment.
I did not expect to ran so well, I was aware I was a driver of the best team of the paddock but I did not believe I could have run so fast.
I did so in every heat, I could gain some gap and keep it apparently easily.
Now I hope to do the same in the next rounds. I thank Olivier and the team for the support they gave me and for their professionalism.”
Armand Convers – Kosmic Kart Racing Department's driver in KZ1 category
“The material worked well since the first heats, actually I got the third best timing in the qualifying. Unfortunately during the heats for the starting grid of race-1 I lost some positions after some collisions, but I ran fast and recovered.
On Sunday I've been able to avoid all small groups of drivers fighting against each others, which the day before slowed me down, so I could obtain a good result.
We have high-potential material and we will be able to do even better in the next competitions.”
