With the colours of our Racing Department, Luigi Coluccio is protagonist of the final of the master class of the single-speed karts in the FIA Karting World Championship in Campillos, Spain, and signs the second place. Same placement for Freddie Slater, penalized by five seconds after winning the race.
The circuit of Campillos smiles on our Kosmic Racing Department. At the FIA Karting World Championship in Spain, the sports division of the brand by OTK Kart Group wins the title of vice-World Champion in the OK and OKJ categories, thanks to the solid performance of the Kosmic Mercury R combined with the DST and DJT engines by Vortex.
In OK, our Luigi Coluccio starts the Spanish weekend by being among the ten fastest drivers of the category since the qualifying sessions. The Italian driver constantly runs in the top of the ranking also during the qualifying heats and confirms his position for the starting grid of the Sunday’s final. The rain falls on the Campillos track and Coluccio plays all his experience in difficult situations: he avoids any trouble at the traffic lights turning off and reaches the third position, which becomes the second at the end of the race. A result that makes him vice-World Champion.
On the other hand, the experience gained last week by Kuba Rajski is not enough. The Polish driver improves from position to position during the eliminatory heats, but +14 positions on his final balance are not enough to enter the final.
In OKJ category, it is Ean Eyckmans having the best chance to get a significant result. The Belgian driver, third at the FIA Karting European Championship, is among the best climbers of the qualifying heats and is able to recover 25 positions. A performance that allows him to be at the start of the final in the first half of the grid. Several collisions in the early stages of the race do not allow the Belgian driver to gain positions, ending the race close to the Top 15. Arthur Poulain follows his teammate by gaining not less than 21 positions in the heats than the qualifying session. In the final, he overtakes several times finishing behind Eyckmans. Hugo Herrouin comes back at the starting grid of an international race with our team again achieving interesting performances during the three days.
With our Kosmic Mercury R chassis, Freddie Slater is the absolute protagonist of the final of OKJ class and, despite the fastest lap of the race and the first position under the chequered flag, he gets a penalty in the post-race for the front fairing in uncorrect position. The British driver of the Ricky Flynn Motorsport thus finishes in second position.
